About Duff Daddy
“That Golf Song” is the debut single of life-long hacker, singer-songwriter Dave “Duff Daddy” Williams, who calls Chandler, AZ home. Originally planning to have the song recorded by an established artist, Williams found that there was zero interest in releasing a song about golf – even though many country music superstars play the game, and millions of country music fans enjoy a round or two (or more) every year.
“First, nobody wanted to record it. Then, I hired a producer in Nashville who completely butchered it. Finally, I found an outstanding producer in Craig Long (Paradise Studios, Sacramento) and a fantastic, creative guitarist out of Nashville named Tom Samulak, and the rest just fell into place.”
Williams searched for musicians all over the country (and around the globe) who could fill out the sound, and one by one, the track came together beautifully. “I wanted the song to have a tempo like a golf swing, and once you hear it, it really stays with you. People say the same about the video – lots of people watch it, and then watch it again. If you don’t smile when you see the video, you’ve never played golf.”
